GPA, Grade and Percentage Calculator for IGNOU MBA (MP) Programme
I searched a lot online for an authentic way to calculate GPA / Percentage for IGNOU MBA Programme but I was forced to read a whole lot of trash and now that I have finally understood it, I will be sharing it with you guys so you know exactly where you stand as IGNOU only mention Grade in Marksheet.
- The Grading system in IGNOU MBA is given below:
Letter Grade | Percentage Equivalent | Qualitative Level |
---|---|---|
A | 80% and above | Excellent |
B | 60% to 79.9% | Very Good |
C | 50% to 59.9% | Good |
D | 40% to 49.9% | Satisfactory |
E | Below 40% | Un-satisfactory |
- Each course is given a Grade of maximum 5. Assignment carries 30% weightage and term end examination carries 70% weightage.
For successful completion of any IGNOU MBA course, “C” should be an overall grade i.e. Minimum "D" in Term End and "B" in Assignment
Now, without confusing you any further like they so on other so called "IGNOU help sites", I am sharing the overall Grade calculation methodology:
Letter Grade : Overall Grade Mark | TEE Grade Mark (70%) | Assignment Grade Mark (30%) |
---|---|---|
A: 5 | 3.5 | 1.5 |
B: 4 | 2.8 | 1.2 |
C: 3 | 2.1 | 0.9 |
D: 2 | 1.4 | 0.6 |
E: 1 | 0.7 | 0.3 |
- Use the above TEE / Assignment grade marks to obtain the Grade Marks for each course. Sum the grade marks for all courses to obtain Total Obtained Grade Marks. For MS-100, Consider the Grade Mark as being two subjects and hence marks would be double (x2) of actual grade mark. Since there are 21 courses (considering MS-100 as 2 courses), Maximum Grade marks shall be 21x5 i.e. 110.
- To obtain the grade point average for entire MBA course, divide the Total Obtained Grade Marks with 21. This is your GPA or Letter Grade which will be reflected in your Degree Marksheet.
- GPA to Grade can be obtained from below:
- 4.7 & Above: A Grade
- 3.6 & Above: B Grade
- 2.6 & Above: C Grade
- Below 2.6, You are FAIL (Overall D or E Grade)
- Percentage can also be roughly calculated as follows:
- 4.7 Grade ~ 80%
- 3.6 Grade ~ 60% (Add Roughly 2% to 60% for every incremental 0.1 GPA. E.g. for GPA of 3.8, Estimated percentage will be: 60%+2x2% = 64%)
- 2.6 Grade ~ 50% (Add Roughly 1% to 50% for every incremental 0.1 GPA. E.g. for GPA of 2.8, Estimated percentage will be: 50%+1x2% = 52%)
