Sneak Peek into Personal Finance with Asav Patel

Just a couple of days before, I came across this ebook on personal finance, 'The New Rules of Financial Planning for Dummies in India', by Asav Patel. I had thought it would be boring like rest of the literature on finance but he proved me wrong. It was really enticing and gripped me for two days straight till I finished reading it today. It exposed my shear ignorance of finance and educated me to the extent that I can now make informed financial decisions. What's really amazing in the book is the Simple language, practical examples and straight NO-NO to any financial instrument that one must stay away from. In fact it's not just a book, its more like a ppt which you can just browse through without much effort and time consumption. Hats off to the author...

GPA, Grade and Percentage Calculator for IGNOU MBA (MP) Programme

I searched a lot online for an authentic way to calculate GPA / Percentage for IGNOU MBA Programme but I was forced to read a whole lot of trash and now that I have finally understood it, I will be sharing it with you guys so you know exactly where you stand as IGNOU only mention Grade in Marksheet. The Grading system in IGNOU MBA is given below: Letter Grade Percentage Equivalent Qualitative Level A 80% and above Excellent B 60% to 79.9% Very Good C 50% to 59.9% Good D 40% to 49.9% Satisfactory E Below 40% Un-satisfactory Each course is given a Grade of maximum 5. Assignment carries 30% weightage and term end examination carries 70% weightage.  For successful completion of any IGNOU MBA course,  “C” should be an overall grade i.e. Minimum "D" in Term End and "B" in Assignment Now, without confusing you any further like they so on other so called "IGNOU help sites", I am sharing the overall Grade calculation methodology: Letter Grade :  Overall Grade Mark

MBA from IGNOU...My experiences so far!

Last year, after a lot of deliberations, I decided to do a distance MBA course (along-side office schedule). After a lot of research, I found that distance MBA from IGNOU is one of the safest options out there as several such colleges offer distance courses whose degrees are not even accredited. IGNOU, as you all must be aware of, is established by an Act of the Parliament and is genuine.  I cleared the OPENMAT entrance examination (for entrance into the MBA Programme, not required for PG Diploma courses) and enrolled into the "MP" or Management Programme. The special features of this programme are its low fees (its dirt cheap), wide acceptability and modular course (6 courses yield you a diploma, 11 courses yield a PG Diploma and all 21 courses of course yield the MBA degree).
