The Munnar trip!

Image
Its almost a week now since we returned from munnar (a most beautiful hill station of Kerala) but still its memories are fresh as ever... Wat a refreshment from the never ending classes and the boring lectures of the col. And it turned out to be one hell of a trip ;). The best part was the coooool...Xperienced after so long...U dont get to have many cool days here in Trichy! Then the scenery 2 was breathtaking. We were 7 friends and we had a lot of fun...Hiking, Visiting the most charming of waterfalls, The flower arena, the dams, the national park...everything was so perfect and perky. Still I felt someone was missing! All in all we had a great experience and wold luk forward to many many more such trips in the future!

The Big Day...

A Day out with friends and 'Rajneeti'!

Yesterday was a Sunday and it really transformed into a full fledged Funday! Some of the old school friends decided to watch the newly released movie Rajneeti at the IP mall and it so turned out that we reached the mall an hour early. So we killed our time the ususal way, the 'we' including me, Somojit, Prashant (a.k.a Basanti) and Rishabh. The movie was good, by far the best movie of the year after 3 idiots... After the show, Kritshekhar arrived and we revised all past memories of JRS with him. It was kinda fun...After having some drinks we returnrd as it had got late. Got up today at the usual 11 a.m. and reached the dept. by 11:30. Seems pretty much like college you know, I mean getting up at 8 and then be present in the class by 8:30! Right now I am sitting in the Systems Lab and doing what I do the best : Surfing the web and wasting time!!! Pratyush

Shakira’s Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) Official World Cup 2010 Theme Song Video released!!!

I can barely wait for the realease of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! :)

The Reunion!

Well Not exactly the grand and legendary one that comes into your mind, but still it was one to be cherished. Getting to meet school friends and catching up with what they've been doing for the past 2 years was the best part, though the school memories that we recalled were even more fascinating! As said before it was a small party of five including me. Somojit, Bhavya, Komal & Varun were there at the IP Mall just as was decided. Bhavya seemed to have become a bit leaner, but the others were just the same. Komal kept proposing the idea of creating an alumni of our school batch; we didnt come to any specific conclusion though...However If she ever creates one, I am gonna be the first person into it! Bhavya kept explaining about the secret behind her formidable pointers (never less than 9.5...ever!!!) and me and Varun kept mocking her (What else could we do, we dream of even achieving a 9.0 GPA :) )...Somojit was just the same, giving us more reasons to jeer while we were sitting

The Anamoly of holidays!

Isn't it amazing how we long to get back home from the college thinking that home would be the ultimate luxury, the one place to be, the elixir of life...especially when the exams are about to get finished and the holidays about to start! But it turns out that when we do return, the strange feeling of missing the college starts creeping into the mind. I dont know about the rest of you but it happens with me and I am really missing NITT badly! Never mind, since nothing can be done abt it, I'll have to wait another 1 month to get back to college and start this process all over again...

The Best Damn Thing;- Being @ Home :)

Hey guys! It has been some time since my last post because things are getting busy here at home. The project work at IT BHU has started that keeps me occupied till about 4 in the evening...Then there is my sister and of course My Laptop that pretty much accounts for my remaining time at home. Anyways, the important thing is that I am enjoying and looking forward to meeting all my school buddies! Life cannot get any better... Pratyush

Stay at Agra...

Hey guys...I am presently at Agra at my Mausi's place. It's turning out to be one good stay because of Kaustubh, Mausi's lil son, who is always fighting wid me and asking for stuff. 'Laptop chala do...', 'Laptop dikha do...', 'Tom & Jerry chala do', 'Chocolate khila do...', are some of the things you constatly hear from him. & this is one thing I am going to miss when I reach Varanasi tomorrow! Pratyush

The torture's over...The Xams are finished!

Oh yeah baby...the end sems have finished and its party time now...Not exactly the party you must be thinking...Actually all I am going to do is Wash my stinking clothes that I didnt clean due the 'Xam-Coming', Watch a couple of movies and wait for tomorrow, when I've got to catch a train @ 10:30 night (Himsagar Exp) to take me to Agra! Bye-Bye Trichy...Bye Bye NIT, I am coming back to Varanasi [Home Sweet Home :)] any day now...So watch out!

Finally a breakthrough in mini project!

Image
Yeah...We made it...the automatic emergency torch for our electronics mini project to be submitted in 2 days time...Looks nice...eh?? A similar circuit was blown a couple of days before. I have details on that in my previous post. It was a tragedy, but as they say: great discoveries are made after tragic losses! Hey it is a saying...And in case its not...well it is from now! :)

Boom...Mini Project burns into flames!

Today, Me and Vikram after having finally assembled all the components for our Mini project (Electronics): Auto Emergency Light, started building up the circuit at around 9 o'clock night. It took us around 3 full hrs to complete it and less than 3 seconds to blow it up. The mistake was that the phase and neutral wires in the input were wrongly connected to the mains 230V, in fact they were interchanged! What followed was a BOOM with a certain amt of fireworks and there lay our bread board...Resistors all black, capacitors covered with black ashes of blown resistors and all LEDs and BJTs destroyed! Well, we were spellbounded at first, then realising that we had to submit it in just a couple of days time really scared the hell out of us! Lets just hope that All is well..., wait for tomorrow to come up with a Plan B...and that the Plan B is a million times better!

Land where nothing ever happens!

Trichy...or more specifically NIT Trichy is one of those singular places of India where nothing seems to happen..esp. when the exams are round the corner! Reckless classes, Photocopying notes, Mugging incomprehensible data and getting minimal hours of sleep....is all what life has become here at this time. While this is the time of maximum boredom...what provides relief is the world wide web , online and non-online friends ;) and of course A vin, the NITT milk shop open till 12 at night and the only place to hang out and relax after finishing the most challenging task in college: Studying!!!

A day out with electronics...

Well...Today I did nothing other than preparing for the upcoming electronics objective quiz on Friday! I studied right from the beginning i.e. from RC coupled Amplifiers and JFET Amplifiers through OP-Amps and Power Amplifiers till Feedback Amplifiers...Pardon me for the jargon but believe me it was no less a jargon to me that it is to you when I was trying to stuff these devices into my head!! And at the end of it there is still Oscillators that is left...Anyways, there is still time and there is no point rushing with the subject because electronics is kind of fun.

Fed up of classes!!!

Give me some sunshine...Give me some break! 6 hrs of continuous classes tomorrow is just too much...K k i am exaggerating a little bit but really the schedule has become pretty tight now that the exams are nearing. How I wish a genie would appear and make all our profs vanish for at least 1 week! But that aint gonna happen...what may happen is me vanishing from tomorrows classes and the best part is no genie is required for this!!!

Awesome start of the day...

Wat a start to this lovely sunny day at trichy...two classes cancelled back to back...On top of that I ate breakfast today! It doesnt seem a gr8 deal to you but its getting up early so as to snatch a couple of bread pieces at mess isnt the most easy thing to do here! Anyways lets see how interesting it turns out at the end of the day Pratyush

MY JOURNEY INTO AN NIT

Image
Prologue This work is not just a mere description of how I got into a National Institute of Technology (NIT) of India; it has a much wider dimension. It describes about the many changes in the lives of the Indian youths who pursue engineering as a career after 10+2. In this book I am the one symbolizing the youth. I would also like to make one thing clear that this book is not a guide to crack the AIEEE and get into an NIT. It is just an experience and I've heard that experiences do matter when u deal with tough things. Introduction My name is Pratyush Singh and I had an AIR of 2829 in the All India Engg Entrance Examinations-2008 (AIEEE). I was also able to get selected into the Extended Merit List(EML) of the IIT JEE-2008. My rank in UPTU (State Engg Entrance of UP) was 319. I was among the 500+ students who had joined JRS to fulfill my aim of becoming an engineer. JRS is a short form of 'Jha Rai Singh', the titles of the former members of the i

Mumbai Indians on a roll...Come on Delhi!

What's wrong with Mumbai Indians...they dont look like they will stop now! 20 pts as opposed to 14 which is the next highest in the points table (RCB & Deccan) is a huge lead... I am supporting Delhi this time which is also at 14 and still fighting for a place in semis. Come on Delhi...It's time to show them the power of the North! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. As for MIs, they deserve a defeat now...they cannot always win!

Sem Xams nearing

It's now exactly 2 weeks for my semester exams. NIT Trichy is famous not only for its good placements but also for the amount of syllabus that is covered each sem here and all that has to be mugged up in just a period of 14 days!!! It is pretty harsh...but has to be done anyway. I will be starting the preps only from tomorrow. Imagine how people like me compete with people like Sambhav (10 pointer of Electrical Dept here) who keep on studying the entire year round 24/7. That is exactly the reason why our pointer falls...K lets chuck it...Studies is a topic I am not too comfortable with here in college. Well I watched a couple of great movies in the previous 2 days: Gridiron Gang and Poison Ivy. While the former was simply outstanding, Poison Ivy was a waste of tym. Pratyush Singh
