India loses a brave daughter...What now?

Image
Everyone knows what I would be talking about, this being the most debated and reported issue for the past few weeks. Yes, we lost an innocent girl and yes this is not the first time, but there always has to be a first time to bring about a revolution. Delhi remains to be the rape capital of India and what the government, police and even us for that matter are doing about it! NOTHING...this is the point blank truth. We live in a country where Government looks at everyone as a vote bank (not as citizens) and even women in power are not ready to change. The police is arrogant and has a unique obsolete mindset.  A  Tehelka  sting aimed at 23 police stations across the NCR reveals a level of misogyny that is not unexpected, but is shocking nevertheless.  According to their stringent criteria, almost all women deserve to be raped. And here’s why:   http://www.firstpost.com/living/from-the-delhi-police-six-reasons-why-women-deserve-to-be-raped-269957.html Worst of all, there is a

My Expectation About Education

The following essay was submitted by me in the institute essay competition on the occasion of the National Education Day:11th Nov (2009). Though it did not fetch me any prize, I definitely enjoyed writing it and expect the viewers to have the same feeling reading it. So here it goes... Education is the treasure of a lifetime that cannot be bought, inherited or bargained. All one requires is a heart to learn, and an appropriate place that enhances the process of learning. The quality of education delivered from such a place, usually a school, college or some other similar institution, depends upon the sincerity of the learner and the efficacy of the educator. A proper mix of both the aforesaid components leads to what is called ‘A Complete Education’, one that the student can make use of, as a guide or a tool in the life that awaits him after his formal education is finished. Since I am a student undergoing Higher Education, I would like to confine myself with my expectations from

Sneak Peek into Personal Finance with Asav Patel

Image
Just a couple of days before, I came across this ebook on personal finance, 'The New Rules of Financial Planning for Dummies in India', by Asav Patel. I had thought it would be boring like rest of the literature on finance but he proved me wrong. It was really enticing and gripped me for two days straight till I finished reading it today. It exposed my shear ignorance of finance and educated me to the extent that I can now make informed financial decisions. I will give the link to his blog from where you too can download it free of cost: http://www.myjourneytobillionaireclub.com/2011/01/new-rules-of-financial-planning-for.html What's really amazing in the book is the Simple language, practical examples and straight NO-NO to any financial instrument that one must stay away from. In fact it's not just a book, its more like a ppt which you can just browse through without much effort and time consumption. Hats off to the author...
